National Slum Development Programme (NSDP)
Initiated on: 1991
 
Objective:

Improve the quality of life of urban slum dwellers (launched by the Government of India)

Component:

  • Making provision of physical amenities like water supply, drains, sewers, community latrines, community bath, street light, roads etc.
  • Provision of community infrastructure for providing social amenities
  • Provision of community primary health care centre
  • Provision of shelter

Municipal bodies through Community Development Societies

Road 75,69,404 meters
Drinking water pipeline 4,51,905 meters
Drains 8,37,588 meters
Underground sewerage drain 63,462 meters
Street light posts 29,039 no.
Water taps 6,504 no.
Shallow tube wells 5,403 no.
Deep tube wells 212 no.
Community bathing places 907 no.
Community toilets 9017 no.
Dustbins 1222 no.
Community centers 197 no.
Primary health centers 184 no.
Dwelling houses 5687 no.
Primary school buildings 101 no.

The programme is implemented by municipal bodies through Community Development Societies.

Under this programme till date a total of Rs. 217.49 lakhs mandays have been generated and a total sum of Rs. 419.58 crores was released to ULBs and out of that Rs. 271.86 crores has been utilised. NSDP fund released and utilised during the year 2001-2005.
