Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority
SJDA is a Development & Planning authority entrusted with the task of Planning & Development within its planning area in the interest of common people. SJDA's prime concern is development in the planning area as per felt needs of the residents of that area. It also undertakes economically viable projects to ensure smooth sourcing of funds for utilizing the same in some economically non viable but otherwise desirable projects in public interest or for development of infrastructure.

SJDA has been established in 1980 under the West Bengal Town & Country (Planning & Dev.) Act, 1979. The SJDA Board now consists of 14 (fourteen) members including Chairman. The term of the Board is normally three years.

The Development Authority has conceived a number of projects during 2007-08 which indicate Software Technology Park under joint venture programme, Perishable Cargo at Bagdogra Airport in order to preserving export-oriented agri-horti crops abundant in the region like exotic and conventional variety of flowers and fruits, Dry Port, development of Industrial Growth Centre at Fulbari near Siliguri to support the integrated zones as "International Trading Hubs", development of Electronics and IT/ITES projects at Dabgarm near Fulbari, New Township Development near North Bengal Medical College, Housing Units at Himanchal Vihar, Multi Utility Infrastructure Project at Dagapur, Siliguri, Pineapple Auction Centre at Bidhannagar, setting up of Knowledge City with Technology Institute, and Food Technology, Biotechnology College, Hotel Management Institute, Pharmaceutical College, Education Centres for Agriculture, Horticulture as well as Floriculture, formation of Shilpangan for training-cum-display centre on manufacturing of products of different trades of artisans of cottage and small scale industries at Mirik Road at Mouza-Mathapari in collaboration with WBIDC, logistic hub near Sevoke Railway Station, Improvement of Eastern Bye Pass, Central Business District with the East-West Corridor, Construction of ROB and RUB within the City, Improvement of Drainage system and Introduction of Sewerage within Siliguri Municipal area and Jalpaiguri Municipal area, 4th Mahananda Bridge connecting Burdwan Road near Jhankar More to Tumba Patiram in Western fringe of Siliguri.
